Click here to buy PVC.PVC is a well known engineering plastic that is used within all parts of our modern life, even domestic uses. PVC is a very economical material that is very easy to machine and form into componants PVC is produced by firstly the electrolosis of salt water to provide chlorine, then combined with an oil derivative called ethylene and then polymerised to form PVC.
PVC Sheet
Engineering grade PVC Sheet is almost always dark and is suitable for producing jigs, fixtures etc. that are easy to produce and form by heat and PVC is also easy to bond with many adhesives or even weld by using simple portable welding equipment. PVC Sheet is also often used for lining tanks because of its chemical resistance and also PVC Sheet is often used for general fabrication projects. Industrial grade PVC Sheet is often available in sheet sizes of 2000 x 1000 and also 3000 x 1500, sheet thicknesses range from 1mm thick up to 50mm thick with many thickness increments. PVC Sheet is reasonably impact resistant but can become less resistant at low temperatures.
PVC Rod
Industrial grade PVC Rod that can be machined into many general purpose componants such as lightweight pulleys, rollers and some gears. PVC Rod has very good electrical insulation and so is often used for handles for componants where electrical componants are used. PVC Rod has also got a class 1 fire rating, this is a benefit because without a flame, PVC Rod will self extinguish. PVC Rod is also very good at chemical resistance which can help in many circumstances particularly where
strong cleaning chemicals are used. PVC Rod is available in diameters ranging from as small as 6mm diameter upto 300mm diameter, typical colour is dark grey but for certain sizes there is also red and also black manufactured. Ivory colour is made but is almost always made to special order. Lengths manufactured for PVC Rod is normally 2000mm.
