Click here to buy Polypropylene.Polypropylene is a very popular and common engineering plastic that is very economical and has many other benefits to help customers. Polypropylene is very acid resistant and has the advantage over many other available plastics, Polypropylene is also very lightweight which helps where components are being handled or transported. It can be easily machined, although the surface finish may not be as good as some other plastics. Polypropylene has a very good range of available sizes which are readily available to customers and Polypropylene will absorb very little moisture.
Polypropylene Sheet
Polypropylene Sheet within the engineering plastics industry is available in one of either two grades, Homopolymer grade and Co-polymer. The homopolymer grade is slightly harder and more rigid and has a larger range of available sheet sizes and thicknesses. Co-polymer grade Polypropylene sheet is more flexible, more impact resistant and more malleable, this co-polymer grade also has a much wider variety of available colours. The homopolymer grade has a thickness from 1mm up to 50mm thickness and sheet sizes are 2000 x 1000 and also 3000 x 1500. The co-polymer grade Polypropylene Sheet has a thickness range from around 1.5mm thick up to a maximum of 15mm, sheet sizes are 2440 x 1220 and 3000 x 1500. Polypropylene Sheet is often used to line chemical or acid tanks and also swimming pools and battery protection boxes. Polypropylene sheet can be easily formed and fabricated but at the moment is unable to be bonded with current adhesives, although many fabrication companies choose to weld Polypropylene Sheet using economical equipment and specific welding wire.
Polypropylene Rod
Polypropylene Rod is manufactured in homopolymer grade only and as such it is the most rigid of the two grades. Polypropylene Rod is very lightweight and even floats in water. It is also very tough and impact resistant. Polypropylene Rod is often used inside economical valve components due to its toughness and chemical resistance. Although it is not a high temperature plastic, Polypropylene Rod will withstand temperatures of around plus 100°C. Diameter availability starts at 8mm and is available up to a maximum of 700mm diameter. Colours available are usually either natural or beige/grey. Black is available but to special order. Polypropylene Rod is often used within the prosthetic devices industry due to its lightweight, toughness and low material prices.
